Take it away is a publicly funded initiative that supports participation in music by providing interest free loans for the purchase of musical instruments, equipment and software to enable music making at every level. Take it away is operated by Creative United and funded by Arts Council England and the Arts Council of Northern Ireland.
In 2018, Creative United established the Take it away Consortium with a small group of like minded organisations and individuals to focus on a shared agenda for improving the accessibility of music making and professional development and performance opportunities for disabled musicians of all ages.
From this group the "IAMM" (Inclusive Access to Music Making) initiative was launched. Outputs to date include Make Some Noise research study, Nottingham Music Hub Pilot Programme, Take it away Guide to Buying Adaptive Instruments and the Accessible Instruments Challenge.
